Managing Social Images

Manage Social Images for your pages

Nyla's Social Image feature enables you to set social sharing images for your pages. You have the option to:

  1. Set a global social image that shows on all pages unless an alternative image has been set for a given page
  2. Set dynamic social images for product and collection pages. Product and Collection pages with a page source can pull in the first product or collection image from Shopify.
  3. Set alternate social images for individual pages. All pages have the option to add an alternate social image that will show first (above the other two types) if set. This enables you to set custom social images for important pages as required.

Best Practice

As best practice, we suggest to set your global default social image, and to enable dynamic social images for your product and collection pages.

At minimum, it's important to ensure the global default has been set so that you never end up with a page that doesn't have a social image set.

Setting a Global Default

You can upload your global social image for your site in Site Settings (Settings > Site Settings > Social Image). Ensure to queue and publish your changes after doing so.

If this is set, then it will show on all pages as a default fallback.

Social Images for Product Pages and Collection Pages

If a page has a source Product or source Collection added, then you will see the option to "Use source image".

If this is set to on, your page will automatically pull:

  • Product source: the first product image set in Shopify
  • Collection source: the first collection image set on that collection in Shopify

If no image can be retrieved from Shopify, your page will fall back to the global default.

Alternate social images for individual pages

If an alternate social image is set for a given page, then this will show above the global default. You can set an alternative social image in Page Settings > Social Image.

Remember to save and publish your changes after making this update.
