GTM Setup Guide
Set up GTM on your new Nyla website
NOTE: The following instructions assume you are starting with a fresh GTM container (which is what we recommend). Do make sure to check whether you're already running a GTM container on your Shopify site, as it may contain tags you'll want to include on your site going forward. If you aren't sure whether GTM already exists, see the FAQ at the bottom of this article.
GTM Container configuration
- Create a GTM container at googletagmanager.com (recording below):
- Next, import the contents of the Nyla Baseline GTM container into your GTM container (recording below):
NOTE: in the recording, we show the process of exporting from GTM -- to download the latest version of this export, click here.
Nyla GTM configuration
Once you have your GTM container ready to go, it's time to configure in Nyla.
- Enable the GTM app in Nyla, adding your container's ID. Save, queue and publish.
- After the publish is complete, use GTM's Preview mode to see whether the container is loading

FAQ
Q: How can I know whether or not a GTM container already exists?
A: Before you create a fresh GTM container, you should check to see if one already exists on your Shopify site. Be aware that just because you see googletagmanager.com in the code doesn't mean that a GTM container is necessarily loaded. See the following recording for details on how to decipher whether or not GTM is actually loaded on your website:
